Social Development reiterates dedication to enhancing SASSA services

Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her assistance and determination to strengthening South African Social Security Company (SASSA) expert services throughout an engagement together with the company's senior administrators in a strategic setting up session in Cape Town.

Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled within the 2024 matric final exams.

Of the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% from the registered pupils during the education and learning sector.

These learners obtained a commendable pass rate of 86%.

"This means the expense national government is building while in the lives of poor and susceptible youngsters is yielding a good impact in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe claimed.

Reflecting on current achievements, the Minister highlighted key milestones and ongoing priorities. She dedicated to urgently addressing the issue of long-lasting leadership appointments and the scarcity of personnel at most regional offices.

On top of that, the Minister highlighted the need for Local community-based engagements and outreach routines.

"Our Group is looking here forward to our huge intensification of Neighborhood outreach, wherever we prioritise underserved places to convey providers nearer to our people," she reiterated.

With regards to SASSA programs, Tolashe urged administration to prioritise enhancing and modernising devices to improve accessibility, queue management and stop fraud.
